Welcome to Mersea Island Judo Club

Our club was formed by Youth worker Mr Dougie Powell M.B.E. in 1975,  Kate Dawson took over the club in 1990..

We are a non profit making club with any profits going back into the club to pay for new mats at a cost of £80each, to subsidize trips abroad and return hosting of our Dutch freinds, also we run our Annual club Championships free of charge.

Everyone involved in the club gives up their time for free because they love the sport and the values of judo.

If you would like to do judo as a competative sport or just to keep fit, everyone is very welcome, boys & girls, men & women, everyone can get something out of judo.  People have the conception that they will get thrown around by higher grades! in fact beginners get to throw them around!!
